-Tiffany Lee; first pregnancy

I have learned so much since attending Joey's pregnancy classes. Joey is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and has given me great advice and tips about preparing for labour. Joey is clearly very passionate about what she does. Her classes have a fun, happy welcoming vibe. I look forward to attending her post natal yoga classes soon. X

Pregnancy yoga classes and booking

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Come along to these nourishing and informative classes to  alleviate aches and pains, work towards a positive, active birth experience and connect with your baby.

Pregnancy Yoga

These classes are specially designed to help nurture, stretch and strengthen your body while pregnant. Focus on breathing and visualisations minimises stress and improve sleep while pregnant, as well as remain calm and in control during the birth process. A deep understanding and regular practice of pelvic floor exercises increases elasticity in the pelvic floor and improves recovery after birth. Yoga postures are adapted to relieve common, pregnancy related ailments, such as backache and swollen limbs. Everything is tailored to empower your individual journey to becoming a Mum.

Birth Preparation

Join Joey and other guest birth experts, to help you feel empowered, informed and confident in the choices you make in the lead up and during your birth journey. Each week we explore a topic, based on the latest scientific research to help you prepare for birth and life as a new mum with confidence. Our antenatal education is presented in a fun, easy to understand and down to earth approach, covering all topics so that you are completely prepared.

Classes are also a great way to meet other lovely, like-minded Mums-to-be, and can be a great bonding experience as you prepare for birth and motherhood. Regular meet-ups and a WhatsApp group means you are part of a community on your doorstep.

Classes are both online and in person. Your online class booking confirmation email will contain the link to your class and if you cannot make it then you will be sent the recording to do it at a time that works for you. If you are booking through MoveGB, please check in to the class to have access to the link. More info and support including free relaxation here

Classes are suitable from 12 weeks. Book here or via MoveGB. First class available as a drop in and then in a 4 week pass, which does not have to be used consecutively. After 37 weeks (36 for twins), return to drop in classes.

Read real Birth Stories from Joey Yoga Mamas:

  • When can I start Pregnancy Yoga?
Anytime from 12-14 weeks once the nausea is likely to start easing and you have more energy as you enter the second trimester. You can practice right up until you start the birth process.

Yes, beginners are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. If you already have a yoga practice, you can continue it alongside Pregnancy Yoga, come and chat to me about general modifications.
  • How often should I come to Pregnancy Yoga?
Most Mums come every week to get the most benefit from a regular practice and to fully integrate all the practices that you can take into the birth room.
  • Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
No, you are welcome to bring one if you want to, but I have plenty of spare ones if you need to borrow one. I also have blankets, blocks and cushions to help support you.
  • What should I bring with me?
Just some water if you would like some. I provide mats, blocks, blankets and cushions so you don't need to bring anything, unless you would prefer to use your own mat and then you are welcome to bring it.
  • When should I arrive?
5-10 minutes before class so there is plenty of time for you get settled and we can get started on time, thank you! This also gives you a chance to chat and catch up with the other Mums-to-be.
  • How do I cancel a class?
You can cancel up to 24 hours before class. After that point you will still be charged, but please do let me know, so I know how many to expect.
  • What does being on the waitlist mean?
It means the class is full, but if someone cancels then you will be added to the class and a notification will be sent to you.
  • When are the classes?
Every Tuesday 7.15 – 8.45pm at The Southville Centre in the Beauley Room.

You can wear loose, stretchy clothing (no jeans) that you feel comfortable in with bare feet to help you balance.
  • Are you qualified to teach Pregnancy Yoga?
Yes, I am trained with Birthlight, who are the Gold Standard in their field of teaching both Pregnancy Yoga and Birth Preparation. Unlike many pregnancy fitness programs, we have a deep background knowledge and expertise from an extensive and in depth training programme.
  • What does the Birth Preparation part involve?
At the start of our classes we explore an antenatal topic in more depth such as the power of breath in birth, use of sound, interventions, the stages of birth and many more. Around once a month, we invite in a birth expert including Independent midwives and Doulas, returning birth stories from our Joey Yoga community with a mixture of birth experiences and massage and shiatsu practitioners who specialise in pregnancy and birth.
  • How much are the classes and how do I book?
The first class is £12.50 and can be a drop in class. From then on you will need to book blocks of 4 for £50. These do not need to be consecutive and are valid for a 6 week period. From 27 weeks (36 for twins) you can go back to drop in classes. You can book online, further up this page or though MoveGB.

5-10 minutes before class so there is plenty of time for you get settled and we can get started on time, thank you! This also gives you a chance to chat and catch up with the other Mums and babies. I totally understand that getting out on time with a new baby or babies is hard though, so please do not worry if you are running late.
  • Will I meet other Mums-to-be?
Yes, we have a community of like-minded mums and a WhatsApp group for sharing questions, organising things outside of yoga (such as First Aid Courses) and sharing birth stories. We also meet at The Tobacco Factory once a month where partners and older siblings are also welcome.
  • Is this the right class for me?
I want to make sure that you really love your time at Joey Yoga, which is why I suggest doing a drop-in class first to check you love it as much as the other Mums and babies. If would like to know what other Mums-to-be thought and how it helped them, why not check out my reviews on Google and Facebook.
  • Anything else?
There is no such thing as a silly question, so please do get in touch and ask me. I am always super happy to help You can write to me here or call me on 07815 325260.
